Garrett Sawyer – Anthem
What’s wrong with this album? The sleeve – there, I had to say it. I expected an album of folk music, with layers of acoustic guitar and I’m not being crazy about folk, although there are some great people out there (like Clarelynn Rose). So it took me a while to get to this album. And I apologize to Garrett Sawyer for this. My mistake; mea culpla.
Anthem is a fabulous piece of rock music. If you’ve read my reviews in the past, you know I have a thing against self-produced albums, but Garrett Sawyer’s falls into the exceptions category.
Beautiful songs, exceptional lyrics (I’d Rather Be Cain, to name only one example) well arranged and well delivered. Go forth and buy because this is an album that will please everyone’s musical tastes. Something for everyone from an artist who certainly has the talent to become a household name.
