Straight Jacket Legends – ‘Sofia’

Songs, as David goes on (and on and on!) about here at home, are all about melody, harmony and rhythm. Good songs, even more so. Straight Jacket Legends, a great rocking quartet out of Wales, may be calling themselves “orchestral power punk,” but it really comes down to the fact that they create memorable melodies and harmonies, brought home by a steady pounding rhythm section. Take the song “Sofia” from their new EP, Lemon Party:

From the haunting piano line of the introduction to the gorgeous descant harmony vocals of the song’s finale, you find yourself singing along during your first listen, like the song is a old friend that you’re happy to hear from again. After hearing the songs on Lemon Party, I can’t wait to hear a full album’s worth of material!
