Welcome

Welcome to the Guitar Noise Wiki, a free guitar resource that anyone can edit. Like the rest of the site, the aim here is to offer as much useful information about playing guitar as possible.

There are already hundreds of articles here and the hope is that things will continue to grow with your contributions. Registered users can add new content or improve existing articles. If you are interested in asking a question, or joining a music-related discussion, the place for that is on the Guitar Noise Forums.

News

August 8, 2007 - Upgraded to the latest version of the wiki software. Please report any bugs.

In the interest of stability, security, and simply looking good, we have recently switched to a new wiki software. Apologies to everyone who registered on the previous system. This new wiki software is the way to go.

Where to start

There is an Index listing all of the articles available here. When adding or editing articles please try to cross-link items as much as possible, and don't forget to add new things to the index page. If you’re looking to experiment with how wiki pages work, try the playground.

Check out our list of things that need doing and read up on some of our policies.

Glossary

Currently there is a plan to create a glossary of any useful guitar or music terms you are likely to encounter. This is a new project and needs a lot of work to get off the ground.

Some Policies: The Guitar Noise Wiki is not a place to ask questions. If you want to post a question head over to the Guitar Noise Forums. Please don't write text with copyright, you must know that many websites contain copyrighted materials.

The goal of this wiki is to provide objective and mostly factual information about playing guitar. It is a place about playing guitar, not a place about you. Please don't use these pages to discuss your personal views or link to products you use or want to sell.
