Can any one direct me to some free online bass lessons, anything from beginner to advanced, or even recommed some books.

Thanks.

Well...

There are some lessons here at GN, but they are more words than notes.

There is a large collection of tabbed "lessons" over at ActiveBass.com. Lots of notes, very few words.

In combination, it might be a good match for you.

As for books, I haven't found anything that I like for lessons yet. As for learning songs, I've found that piano music usually has the best transcriptions of the bass line.

I hope this helps...

Well http://www.activebass.com has a million lessons but they're all user-made, so there isn't really any guarantee of any sort of quality. And of course there are the bass lessons here at guitarnoise, even though they are nowhere near as extensive as the guitar lessons. I've basically just wandered aimlessly about the internet looking for information, and I haven't found a site I could really recommend as a great resource for learning to play bass. Maybe a teacher is the best way to go.

Wow, I took so long to write that short bit of nothing that Dan read my mind, took my ideas, and posted them before I did. Tricky fellow he is.

Pretty much the best out there, or as far as I know.

Note: I think this question was asked before, and Helgi gave that link?
