im trying to figure out what on earth this thing is that the bassist is playing.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4eEP15P-3wM&feature=related

from the brief glimpses i think it may be an epiphone jack casady bass. but i cant see the distinctive knob below the pickguard in the video.

vince hornsby has his own custom epiphone les paul custom bass, so he does use epiphone instruments occaisionally. he only used it in the early stages of the band i think. now he uses a fender jazz bass i believe. if any of you could help, thanks!

Derek.

Yes, it seems an Epi Jack Casady bass. And I think it has the varitone knob below the pickguard (0:19).

But Gibson has several basses with that "Mickey Mouse" or "Dot" shape:

It could also be the Les Paul Signature shown in that webpage. I can bit see the bridge clearly in the video.

i dont think its the les paul, later in the video you can clearly see the headstock, and you can barely make out epiphone on it. and thats the only one they make with that style and paint job. i think i might have found it.. and only $799 for such a nice sounding bass!
