Just saw in the paper that Ibanez is recalling 700 of their Soundgear, Roadgear and Gary Willis series basses because an improperly installed battery can cause internal damage and lead to a fire. Not the hot bass line you were aiming for. The guitars were sold between March 2005 and March 2006. Contact your local Ibanez dealer for a free inspection or call 800-669-8262 or go to http://www.ibanez.com or http://www.cpsc.gov (Consumer Product Safety Council).

If you want to be like Jimi and pour lighter fluid on your guitar and burn it, that's one thing, but having your axe burn of it's own accord? That's no good!

Just thought I'd pass this along since I know you bass players aren't very literate and don't read the newspaper :P  . Just kidding. Now I'm going back to the guitar forums where I belong.

Thanks for passing that along. I don't have an Ibanez bass yet, but I'll probably get one eventually.

It is a small world for metal fanatics. I welcome you fellow musicians, especially the metalheads!

It's not that I don't read the paper, it's just that this sort of thing never seems to make The Berkshire Eagle! Thanks for the heads up as I will also let my students (two who I think own this make of bass) know.

Peace
