Hi guys!

I am a total n00b to Bass Guitar, but I have been playing electric guitar for about 5 years now and I am OK at it.

I am loving bass, and I am primarily interested in learning to play slap style, but I am having a little trouble with my muting. The biggest problem I am having is slight overtones bleeding together from notes that are ringing out when I try to do left hand (my fretting hand) mutes in between slaps. Is there a particular way to mute the strings? Are you supposed to use all three of your available fretting hand fingers when you do left hand slaps and mutes?

Anyone know of any websites or videos on youtube that might demonstrate or explain it? I don't want to get in the bad habit of choking the neck to hard to get the strings to mute.

Also, I like Les Claypool a lot, any songs of his you could recommend that are good for beginners on bass?

Thanks all!

Pat
