Is this a guage of fret wire or something? What other kinds of frets are there, and what are the pros/cons of each?

Sounds like a Dunlop model number.

It is a model number for the section of fret wire. Basically fret wire comes in various heights and widths, which combine to give what people term jumbo, medium jumbo, etc

This should give you a better idea

I started with nothing - and I've still got most of it left.
Did you know that the word "gullible" is not in any dictionary?

Awesome, thanks guys. I saw this advertised by Ibanez on their JEM and JS models.
