Hi there,

I saw that the easy songs forum is not that easy...for me i mean :( . i have just learnt an easy new song by Bread-IF.

What are some of the songs that i can learn that are similar in standard to "IF"

Cheers

You might try David's lesson on "House of the Rising Sun" by the Animals. (If you haven't already, that is!)

Make your own! Considering you are wanting "easy" songs, that tells me you are still learning the fingerstyle technique. In that case, having some simple patterns to repeat that are not taken from a famous song can be useful, plus you can make them yourself.

Not as daunting as it sounds; let me explain....

Pick 4 of the strings i.e. the middle 4 strings A D G and B.
Then pick a repeating order to pick them in i.e. A D G D G B G D

Then pick 3 chords to do this to i.e C G Am

And slowly work your way through it.

That is an example of a pattern I use quite a lot when inventing stuff to play (and is used in "Adrienne" by the Caling albeit with some different chord types).

Learning skills THEN songs has always been easier in my opinion.

oh yeah just incase heres a link to REM https://www.guitarnoise.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=29814

but yeah I strted with little random riffs which i went over and over getting my 3 fingers each using the bottom 3 strings more confortable, but i think the rem song may be simple enough

See if you can find a tab for Blackbird. Good fingerstyle song, not too hard.

I've got the tab for Blackbird, but I can't legally post it here, so I'm sending it to you via email, Kenny!

If anyone else would like it, PM me with your email address and I'll send it to you, too.

Blackbird was the first song I learned. I'd been playing about three months or so when I learned it. It looks like it'd be kind of hard, but it's really pretty easy if you practice it every day for about a week. The hardest part for me was going from first position and then jumping up to the 12th fret on the next bar, but even that isn't that hard.

LOL! In the beginning it's hard to remember exactly where the twelfth fret is without having to look for those two dots! After a while, though, it kind of becomes second nature!

Yeah, and once you get that slide up to 12 down it feels really cool doing it!

Try to find some stuff by Blind Blake, "Diddy wa Diddy" sounds real good and isn't very hard, mostly C, F, G7 if I remember correctly. Use the 4 string version of the F chord for ease.

kathy's song isn't all that hard. it's just fast but after you get it you increase your speed.
