If anyone can be so generous and spare their good ear for picking out notes, do you think its possible to help me out with this short guitar piece.

I sorta have it down, but im far from being an expert.

Ditto far from being an expert, but I'm always up for some more practice ;)
E-0-0-0-0-0-0-0-0- ---------5-5-2-2h4- -0-
B-5-5-5-5-5-5-4-4- -5-5--------------- -5-
G----------------- -----4-4----------- ---
D----------------- x2 ------------------- x4 ---
A----------------- ------------------- ---
E----------------- ------------------- ---

There's something in there playing notes at twice the speed in the first part, but I don't think it's the guitar that we're focusing on. You might try doubling that part up, though, see if it works better for you. Also in the first part - that open E string is from another guitar I'm sure (and it keeps going, but quieter, in the second part), but the dissonance it causes on the last two notes are an important part of the sound of the riff. No reason not to put it in when you're playing on one guitar :)

No worries, nice to be able to answer one of these how-to-play questions for a change. I usually try but get nowhere :)
