Hey all,

There's a flamenco teacher in my area and I'm highly considering taking lessons with him since I just recieved a flamenco guitar.

I understand that the type of music played by advanced flamenco is technically demanding, so it won't be easy.

But, what I'm really wondering is will taking this class help me with the other styles of music I'm interested in. I like to finger pick songs the most and it's just a lot of fun to me to play with my fingers.

Are there a lot of alternating base lines and syncopations in flamenco music?
This would be my first guitar teacher/lessons so I'm kind of unsure if this is the way to go.I like the tempo of most flamenco music and all, I just want to know what I'm getting into before I proceed further.

Thank you,

Mike

You' ll probably learn palmas and all the normal flamenco variants too - along with the fact that the standard 12-count seems to start on 12 not 1 (if I read this stuff I've got here right)

I'd go for it. If you're not enjoying it after half a dozen lessons, then drop out. Either way, you'll learn a heck of a lot.

and check out their audio/ video resources.

Best,
