Can anyone help? I'm in the process of learning The Huron Carol by Doug Sparling (I am totally blown away by this beautiful piece of music!).

However, when tuning, my electronic tuner does not recognise Bb (B-flat), and comes up with A# (A-sharp) instead :? Is this the same thing?? Very confused.

Also, at the top of the music score, the tuning says GDGGBbD, yet the song seems to be in DGDGBbD. Even more confused! HELP!!!!

I've had a quick look and agree that the tuning from the Tab is D.G.D.G.Bb.D.

Best,

that looks like an open mimor tuning.
strum all the strings and you have a lush chord.

Hi all,

I hadn't read this thread yet and Alan was kind enough to let me know there was some confusion on the tuning...yes, looks like there' a typo in the score. The piece is in open G minor - DGDGBbD as stated in the text of the lesson...GDGGBbD listed on the score is incorrect. When I get a chance I'll try and get it corrected. Sorry about that ;)

Dylan6776 - I'm glad you enjoyed this tune, it really is a stunning bit of music. I'd never really used open G minor (seriously anyway), but this tune seemed perfect for the tuning and once I sat down to work on it, my arrangement fell together in a matter of minutes. Thanks again for pointing out the typo and my apologies again for the confusion...

Hi doug! yes I think I've got it sorted now. I love this piece and will work on it until I've nailed it. I've managed to suss that little irish number (boy from ireland) and I love that too. You are a massive inspiration. More please!

Thanks to Alan and everyone too.

Regards :D

Check out my author profile...there are a few more lessons - a few DADGAD pieces too. BTW - Huron Carol took me the longest to record - I really had to practice that one :)

I've got many more lessons on the way...I'm doing a few Irish flatpicking lessons (one is up at GN now) and I even have a rock lead guitar lesson partially written. But I'll continue to do fingerstyle lessons and arrangements - I really have fun with those. I'm glad to hear that you and other GN readers are working through them! Thanks for the kind words...
