Since I started playing in october I have been using my electric-acoustic and an electric I borrowed off of my brother, now i'd like to buy my own electric guitar and I am torn between these two. I get my student loan again in a few days so i'm not too bothered about price. :D

Any input?

I like the colour of this one alot :P

But i love the style of these, and Mr. Buckley used to play one too which is cool :P

I have a Tele and I love it. It is very well built and easy to play, which is good because I have only been playing for about a year.
It is a very twangy guitar, but I am a country music fan so that works for me.

All my life I wanted to be somebody. Now I see I should have been more specific.

The Epi is a good choice. I also like the Tele, but if you are a student, there are some really good (and much cheaper) Tele's out there. Check out the Squier line of Teles:

Or even the Fender Tele (made in Mexico):

By the way - aren't student loans supposed to be used for school?!?

I like that sound :P If that is what you mean by twangy then it's all good.

Oh and student loans are for us to survive on, and i don't think i could live without music :P

that is a very good deal for an overseas American Telecaster.
those two guitars, tele and epiphone les paul, are two very different guitars.
each are good for different reasons.
my vote would be for the tele. it is a better guitar craftsmanship wise. plus I personally love the tele vibe.
and the classic twang will be in that tele.
if you can afford it then do it!

I would go with the LP, I can't stand the Tele' headstock!

Both are great choices although they sound radically different from each other. As for student loans, the only reason I signed up for university was to get my hands on a loan and start buying gear. :D

I have a MIM Fender Telecaster and absolutely love it. Some ppl don't like the sound but I find it very pleasing. The guitar itself is well built and I've never had a single problem with it. Just change the strings when they wear out and away I go.
