One thing I don't understand is how chords get their names? Like A7 or Edim. I'm not sure what the 7 or the dim mean? I've seen
a few chords with dim in the name. It's a puzzle to me :?:

There's two parts to a chord name: the "root" (the letter name) and the chord type.
Chord types tell you what it sounds like. A chord line A7 sounds just like a chord named B7 - the "7" tells you how the notes interact with each other. The letter name tells you how high or low it is.
"dim" means it's just like a minor chord, but one note is lowered. Em would be the notes E-G-B; Edim is the notes E-G-Bb.
