This may seem like a rookie question...well, i guess i am in the right place,
anyway, i was practicing scales and noticed when i stopped on G, (high E string, 3rd fret) and i deadened the string with my strumming hand, the guitar was still ringing a note. So when i did it again, i found that it is my low E string ringing slightly.

Should this be expected, or do i have an excuse to ask my wife if i can get a new guitar?:D

thanks to you guys, i am really astonished that you take the time to help out beginners.

Sorry, you'll have to find another reason to convince the wife. It's called sympathetic resonance. You'll learn to mute the strings you aren't playing with the palm of your strumming hand as you progress.

Super light strings and equally light picking makes all these sympathetics ring out. I love 'em...
