Could someone please tell me how I would play an E7 (9+)? I usually use http://www.chordfind , but couldn't find this one. Thank you.

Probably E7(+9) would be more correct - and bring you result at chordfinder too.

I read it as a E7 (E G# B D) with an added uhm... augmented(?) 9, i.e a G note

(actually that chord is interesting because it is a minor chord and a major chord at the same time)

I prefer the fingering

x7678(0)

i.e. your usual movable 9 fingering x76777 but you raise the 9th which is found on the second string. (I put bracket around the open E on the 1 st string in order to make the form moveable it must be damped - but in an E chord it can well be included - works VERY well to mimic the piano part in Beatles' "I want to tell you" BTW)

phew - complicated answer to an easy question :-)

...only thing I know how to do is to keep on keepin' on...

X7678X is a good one or 022133 -- or cut it down to XX2133. The notes are E G# B D F## (=G) and the 5th (B) can be left out with no ill effects as in two of those examples.

The E7#9 (E seven sharp nine) is often called the "Hendrix chord" because he liked it.

There's an article on it by Christopher Sung at Wholenote.com

Thanks! Going to grab my guitar and give it a try. The song I am working on is Strange Brew. Going to play it with some friends on Sunday so I need to get practicing.
