I have seen clips from the tv with people playing acoustic guitars with something blocking the sound hole. Is this so one can play an electro acoustic guitar without the guitar itself not sounding, with the only noise coming through the amp. And if this is the case, how can i block the sound hole of my guitar.
Cheers
Alistair
I believe it is to eliminate feedback when playing plugged in, you can tape a CD over the soundhole for this.
Oh and welcome to the site
Cheers ! :D
How to i get the blocker for my guitar? from guitar shops, do you know what it is called?
it's called a CD, you can get them pretty much anywhere ;)
You can also get special ones but they cost more, try googling for 'guitar sound hole cover' or similar
Thanks alot, sorted! cheers
If you had ever played an acoustic guitar in a live situation you would know what that feedback buster is for . The sound hole can pick up sound from just about anywhere onstage and before you know it your guitar will be howling and vibrating like crazy . The rubber plug stops the loop . It works, I have one .
If I claim to be a wise man , it surely means that I don't know .

Isnt that what this board is for, to find out things you didnt know before?
I didn't mean anything by the quoted section , only to stress the point that it can be a huge problem . Sorry , if I came across persnickety !
