not really.
I understand it as a volume pedal.
you use it to emphasize a passage or control output. thus creating a dynamic expression.

I hate the language manufacturers use.

I think, in relation to multi-fx, they mean a pedal that is programmable as volume, wah or whatever (I believe they can also allow you to change one of the parameters of an effect). It allows dynamic expression of the allocated function, i.e. wah, etc.

I started with nothing - and I've still got most of it left.
Did you know that the word "gullible" is not in any dictionary?

The "expression pedal" on my RP200 is used as a volume, gain and wah pedal.

Certain settings use the expression pedal differently.

Volume - Self explanatory
Gain - The more you press it down, the more you get of the certain effect
Wah - Self explanatory, but I'll add, it stinks!

I had the same pedal. got rid of it a few years ago.
I agree some things suck on there.

so if a catalog is selling an expression pedal by itself, do you think it would work the same as one on a multi FX processor or more like a volume pedal?

it doesnt matter to me, but I like this thread and perhaps others will get something out of it.

Pearl,

It depends on what you were expecting out of it in the first place. Multi effect pedals are not the end all. They are however a great tool for finding out what sounds you DO like. Just because it has tons effects doesn't mean you'll like everyone.

I however, do like quite a few of them.

I would hold on to it and give it a second shot with an open mind. I will admit though, it does sound better with an EQ pedal right after it. Then again, an EQ will help in any chain. I'm a firm believer in them thanks to Joe.
