I was looking at pickups an there were ones that said regular an f-space, I thought pickups only came in bridge or neck, what does f-space an regular mean ?

A bit of a guess: Fender spacing -- for use at the bridge of a Fender. Polepieces would be further apart than for a Gibby

Gnease has it dead on. Not only is the scale length different for Gibson guitars and Fender strats and teles, but the distance between the strings is slightly different too. If you try to take a Gibson pickup and drop it in a strat, the poles for the magnets won't line up, and it doesn't work quite right.
