Hello,
I want to try learning the solo for 4am Forever by Lostprophets.
The problem is my fingers aren't fast enough.
Does anyone know any excersises I can do to speed my fingers up?

Also with chords like:
e|:|---------------|---------------------------------------------------------/
B|:|---------------|---------------------------------------------------------/
G|:|---------------|-----------------------------7--------5--------4---------/
D|:|---------------|--5--------4--------2--------7--------5--------4-------7-/
A|:|---------------|--5--------4--------2--------5--------3--------2-------7-/
E|:|---------------|--3--------2--------0----------------------------------

If I take the first one, 553.. would I put my 1st finger on three, then my 2nd and 3rd on the 5?
Thats how I do it normally, but it looks awkward, am I doing it right or is there another way to play chords like that?
Thanks everyone. :]

x

This is pretty much power chords. There's a good set of lessons on them here - https://www.guitarnoise.com/lessons/threes-a-crowd/ and here - https://www.guitarnoise.com/lessons/threes-a-crowd-part-2/

For the first one (a G5) I would play that with my first finger on the E string, my third finger on the A string, and my fourth finger on the D string. For the chords that are based on the A string I would just shift that fingering over one string.

You can play the whole thing using just your index and middle finger. Do you know how to barre an A chord do that for everything, even use just your index for the E chord (0 2 2).

Lay your first finger across the third fret and then lay your middle finger on the 5th fret. You don't need to worry about pressing down on hard enough on all the strings, just concentrate on the ones you need to play.
--------
--------
-------- ------------------ 7 m
--5-(middle)--4 m -2 i - 7 m
--5-(middle)--4 m -2 i - 5 i
--3-(index)---2 i - 0

and so on.

It's not easy being green.... good thing I'm purple.

I think most people tend to play them with the index and ring finger.

I'm with Purple and cnev on this one.

Index finger on the low string of the chord, and ring finger barring the other 2 strings (and muting the other strings - 'cause you'll hit 'em by mistake now and then)

Don't mind my middle finger. It's just trying to keep outta the way of the picture

Doh, that's what I meant. Index and ring. Send me back to first grade so I can learn the names of my fingers. I probably drove Chlozo nuts trying to do it with his middle! My apologies.

I personally like to play power chords with my index finger in the root note, my ring finger on the fifth, and my pinky on the octave.

As was already mentioned those are power chords and can be fretted with just 2 fingers. If you want some exercises to really improve your finger abilities, check out the book "Guitar Fitness" by Josquin Des Pres, published by Hal Leonard.
