I believe another pro is that it exerts more force on the saddle and therefore plays 'louder'.

For new players I think a low action is better because its easier to play and helps with technique - poor technique(heavy handedness might lead to buzzing).

How do you like the Elixers? I have sweaty hands, so I should like them due to longer-lasting, but I just find them too slippery. To be fair, I haven't tried them for a year, maybe my technique will have improved enough now for the slipperness not to be a problem.
