Hey everyone...i was watching robbie robertsons left hand during cripple creek in the last waltz http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RDnlU6rPfwY (if you go from :30-:45 seconds there is a great clip of his fretboard close up next to levon drumming) is he wrapping his thumb over the top to achieve an c shaped bar chord? im 98% sure hes playing A D A D E. If anyone could offer any insight on that chord shape itd be great it looks like that sets up really well for fills and licks...thanks

I used to do that as a kid...just use your finger as a capo & play

Use my forefinger as a bar & play a C chord with the remaining fingers...
