Hey,

I was running scales at lunch today, and thought I had an amplifier problem.

Everyonce in a while I would here a weird buzzing noise (not string buzz). Turns out it wasn't my amp. Every time I played the 'F' at the 10th fret on the G string, the metal cabinet I had set my amp on vibrated. Only that note made the cabinet vibrate.

That's what's called 'Natural Frequency'.
It can have disastrous effects:

I figure you and your amp are safe though. :)

Oops, sorry, I didn't offer a solution.
A sheet of material like 1/8" plywood between the metal cabinet and the amp might do the trick.

Or a towel, or phone book, or pretty much anything.
Some drummers use bits of tape to kill resonances on their drumheads.

This is a little off topic but I notice sometimes hitting a certain note I can feel my intestines vibrating... it's THE BROWN NOISE!

On my bass amp I had an issue that sounded like a blown speaker but was actually an issue with some of the screws inside the cabinet had vibrated loose and some notes would cause them to vibrate pretty loudly.

a reverse phenomena....I sneezed hard one night and my resonator guitar, on it's stand nearby, began to vibrate.
it played an open G chord sustaining nicely.

I've had that with my acoustic. :D
Don't know what strings were vibrating, but it was ringing!

I noticed a while back that if I have my amp cranked and my acoustic guitar sitting a few feet in front of the amp, when I play open strings on my electric, the corresponding string on the acoustic vibrates enough to hear the notes ring. Funny when you see it, it's like a ghost is playing along with me

air pressure. compression and expansion = sound waves.

don't you like it when you are next to your amp playing and yor pant legs move from the air being pushed.
I do.

are we still on topic?
