Was wondering if anyone out there can help me on this one

I love playing Landslide by Stevie Nicks; I've got it down cold and it sounds great. However, there is a few little 'riffs' or as I call them 'twiddly' bits in the song that I just CANNOT get for the life of me! I've looked for tabs all over the internet, and every search just comes up with more or less the same tab...and the twiddly bits aren't there

If anyone knows how to play this song (you can YouTube it and listen to Stevie Nicks and Lyndsey Buckingham play it) and know how to do the fancy bits I'd really appreciate some advice on what notes/fingerings are being used. If it's any help, the first twiddly bit (and the song just doesn't sound quite right without it) comes just after the line "Oh mirror in the sky, what is love...?" and crops up a few times in the song. Also, there's a couple of solo's half way through that sound really good...again, can't find the correct tab/notes for these.

If someone, nay, ANYONE could end my frustration and teach me how to play the twiddly bits/solo's I'll be a very happy boy

Thanks Guys

No. Already checked that - and that's gotta be the most wrong version of it I've ever seen!! That IS NOT the correct picking pattern AT ALL and there are no twiddly bits. To be honest, I was really disappointed when I discoverered it...David Hodge knows better!!

Thanks all the same....

I've got the sheet music and it is almost exactly like Laura and Davids tab. Obviously there's more than one way to skin a cat.

Edit: Upon reading the notes on the sheet music it is a composite arrangement, meaning they've combined both parts. Looks like you'll have to dissect it to find what your looking for.

Sounds like he is looking for Lindsey's improve on the turnarounds and chord changes. I am working on the same thing with James Taylor's Fire and Rain. As I improve I pick up more of those licks.

Dylan,

I emailed you two versions that I have of "Landslide". They may or may not have your "twiddly bits", it's been a while since I played either of them! One is in .pdf format and the other is in GuitarPro.

Ah but you see it isn't about making an exact duplicate of somebody elses work. It's about learning to do it yourself, or teaching it to someone else. I don't know how you are playing what David taught, but when I hear it played I hear landslide. If I was graded on how accurately I copied someone else I'd fail every time.

#----------------------------------PLEASE NOTE---------------------------------#
#This file is the author's own work and represents their interpretation of the #
#song. You may only use this file for private study, scholarship, or research. #
#------------------------------------------------------------------------------##
LANDSLIDE (Stevie Nicks)
------------------------
A few notes:
* Most of the song uses a picking pattern a lot like the intro; there _is_
some variation (and maybe a 2nd guitar), but you'll get a lot of mileage out
of the intro tab. The big exception is the part that goes "well I've been
afraid of changing," where the chords change completely. (And if anyone
wants to tab that part out, send it to me and I'll add it to this file!)
* Most of the variation in the C G/B Am7 G/B part is in the form of high G
notes. I.e., fretting the high E string at the 3rd fret with your left
pinky, and playing that instead of the B string in some measures, and also
at the beginning of some measures, with the first bass note. You'll have to
listen to the song to figure out _exactly_ where to do it.
* All the chords are one measure in duration, except "Am7 - G/B," which is
one measure _total_.
* D7/F# is 200212, or maybe 20021x. I play it 200212, with my thumb on the
low E string.
* It's actually in E flat; capo at the 3rd fret.
* In the guitar solo, "/" is a slide, "=" is a hammer-on or pull-off, and
the marks underneath are for timing. The timing is pretty accurate.
* Some of the places in the guitar solo where I put hammer-ons or pull-offs
should probably be bends (e.g., 10=12 should maybe be 10b12). But I don't
have an electric guitar, so I can't do whole-step bends.
* I might not have put the solo on the right strings; the _notes_ are
right, but where I notated a 3 on the E-string, it might really be an 8 on
the B string, and so on. Use whichever fingering works best for you.

Hey thanks Eleckra - got the pdf one, but can't seem to open the other one for some reason

Nick: Yes, I know what you are saying, and I think it's great when someone turns a song into their 'own'. I'm not knocking it, and do it a lot myself. But I've always been a stickler for getting things spot on. When I find a song that really 'grabs' me, I want to play it like it was played by the original artist because I think that's how it sounds best and that's why it 'grabbed' me in the first place, hence, it shouldn't be altered. Hope that makes sense.
Also, I don't know where you found that tab, but I'd say it's very accurate and has the 'turnarounds' (learnt something there :D ) that I've been looking for, so thankyou very much...gonna spend the rest of the day learning how to play them 8) .

Bless you all for your input/help.

No problem at all and I understand what you are saying. I'm always trying to get the flavor better, palm muting, rhythm, up vs down strokes, etc.

It's pretty accurate - I've managed to play that first bit of solo, but I'm really struggling on the fast end turn around that puts you back into the song. Most of it is played on the high E string. Looks simple enough, but when I do it it just doesn't sound right. Don't know what I'm doing wrong
