any suggestions on which ones I should check out
Yeah. First off, definitely go for a "trigger" type - the ones where you just squeeze the handles together to put them on and take them off. Jim Dunlop do a good one.
Avoid ones where you have to fiddle about with threads and nuts - they aren't that reliable.
I use Dunlop capoes all the time - in my opinion they are the best capo for your buck.
I am sure others will disagree though!
And they do a good range of colours too ---- extremely important to your sound
all the best

I agree with Matt: the trigger type capos that you just have to squeeze, release, and the spring applies the pressure are definitely the best...though I'm personally a Kaiser fan!

Good shout - Kaiser's are a great capo too, I also have one!!!
And style wise, I guess the Kaiser one is just a bit more "ornate" for want of a better word

Here is another vote for the Dunlop Trigger type. I think I spent about $10 bucks for mine.
Treat others how you would like to be treated.
I think it's called 'Kyser' :)
I've got one of them and I really like them. Got a classical one, fits my electric and acoustic.
I will not be deterred from my Shubb - by far the most reliable (no spring to go weak, break or get lost) and well built capo around.
I started with nothing - and I've still got most of it left.
Did you know that the word "gullible" is not in any dictionary?

go with a kyser trigger capo
Some of the Kyser's can have a rather tight spring. But mines still working alright. Think I might try the shubb someday though. It gets good reviews.

Shhhhh-ubbb as Wayne and Garth would say.
The G7 although pricey is a good one too. I don't like either Kyser or Dunlop triggers because you can't adjust tension. Too strong and you pull your intonation out of whack.
A fun one to look at is the "third hand capo"
I'm a newbie(ish) and I have a shubb which seems to work well. I like it anyway, I just like the 'cleverness' of the engineering.
I have the kyser and the dunlop they both work pretty well. I tend to use the dunlop for electric and kyser for acoustic because the kyser has wayy more tension.
I like the Kyser type as well.
Apparently, so do the other guitarists in my band. :D

I know you men won't be particularly interested, but, for the women who read this thread, Dunlop also makes a pink capo for the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Research Centers and a portion of all of their sales from those pink capoes goes directly to Susan G. Komen BCRC. I own two of them, and they're GREAT capoes!

Kyser here for my Tak 12.
the 6 string models are supposed to have less tension but it seems to me to be mighty close to the same.
for years i used the adjustable elastic types and for most acoustic applications they work fine.
