Hello all,
Just wondering what the moderators think about the below fret hand strengthening
exercises noted below--for my and other beginner's benefit.

Cheers,

Namaste.
I'm not really sure what the first exercise would achieve. I've not come across it before, so have no idea if it would work or not.
I used the second one, but in a different way:
---------------------------1-2-----------------------------------
----------------------1-2------1-2-------------------------------
-----------------1-2---------------1-2---------------------------
------------1-2------------------------1-2-----------------------
-------1-2---------------------------------1-2-------------------
-1-2------------------------------------------1-2---------------
After 1-2, do 2-3, 3-4, 1-3, 2-4 and 1-4. Notice that the downward sequence is the same as the upward (1-2, not 2-1, as with Ultimate guitar's)|--------------------------2-1------------------------------------|
--------------------2-1---------2-1------------------------------
---------------2-1-------------------2-1-------------------------
-----------2-1----------------------------2-1--------------------
------2-1--------------------------------------2-1---------------
-2-1------------------------------------------------2-1---------
After 2-1 (notice again that the sequence is the same both up and down), do 3-2, 4-3, 3-1, 4-2 and 4-1.
I started with nothing - and I've still got most of it left.
Did you know that the word "gullible" is not in any dictionary?

Looks like a good plan--thanks! Your's looks to be more of a workout and requires more concentration. :P
Namaste.

The upward motion is the same, just with additional finger combinations. It's the downward motion that is difficult, you really have to concentrate.
I usually start at around the 8th fret, go through the sequence a couple of times, then I move to the 7th fret and start all over again. I move fret for fret down to the first fret - it gives your fingers time to warm up before getting to the wider spread frets.

What do you suggest for strengthening exercises when one is AFG (away from guitar)?
Namaste.
