I've looked at a few electric guitars, and the one that has made the best impression so far is the Cort KX1. It's going for R2,500 (uh, that's just under $400, if I have my exchange rate correct). However, I've seen very few online reviews of this guitar, or Cort guitars in general. Anyone here know about them?
It has a mahogany body and rosewood fingerboard, which leads to my next question. Obviously, the construction plays a role in all sorts of things (substain, tone, etc.), but all I know is that plywood sounds bad, and cardboard even worse. What sort of wood is good / bad / horrid?
And has anyone ever heard of a "MightyMite Motherbucker (H-H)"?
What about "TonePros Lic. Locking bridge (C-TPFP) w /string thru body"?
Hey, it's all a little overwhelming when you start digging. Forgive my foolish ways :D
Mahogany is a good tonewood, though the name mahogany covers a very broad species of wood.
MightyMite makes reasonably good pups and hardware.
TonePros is a good hardware maker. Though you should understand that 'licensed' means another, authorized (Asian) manufacturer builds the parts to some version of TonePros' specs.
Cort is considered a respectable brand. No real alarms here.
