I am trying to play a song from a book I bought, the notes are G0 G2 B0 G0 all in quarter notes. How do I play the B0 then mute it while playing the G0?

You touch the string.
There are 3 ways to do that with this sequence of notes:
1. Touch the B string with the tip of your picking hand index finger as you pick the G string - if you're holding the pick close to the tip, this isn't hard to do.
2. Use any finger of your fretting hand to touch the B string
3. Use a picking hand finger that isn't holding the pick (the middle or ring finger) to touch the B as you pick the G.
Each of these three has its place... I'd practice them all.
