Hi folks:

I am usually pretty good at figuring out chords to songs, but I am having trouble with this one. It is an Italian song that is near and dear to my mother- who is 90 years old. I'm trying to learn it on guitar so i can play it for her, but am not getting very far. If anyone can help figure out the chords, it would be greatly appreciated.

Here is a youtube link to the song https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H3xCSUqsBZE

Here are the lyrics:

Una chitarra suona nella notte,
cantando va dicendo amore, amore.
La porta non si apre del balcone,
un cuore sta morendo per una donna.

E sento l'eco delle mie parole
vanno all'orecchio del mio grande amore
e a lei sussurra "svegliati, oh madonna,

vanno all'orecchio del mio grande amore
e a lei sussurra "svegliati, oh madonna,
un cuore sta morendo per una donna".
Stringila forte a te con una scusa,
vado con la chitarra e chiedo scusa.

(Instrumental)

E sento l'eco delle mie parole
vanno all'orecchio del mio grande amore
e a lei sussurra "svegliati, oh madonna,
un cuore sta morendo per una donna".
Stringila forte a te con una scusa,
vado con la chitarra e chiedo scusa...

Hi

I don't have an instrument handy but I can hear that it's a minor "I" chord for eight beats and then a major "V" chord for eight beats. So if you decide to start in Am, it would be Am - E - E - Am. At the end of the verse / beginning of the chorus the minor switches to major.

In the second part of the song, it shifts to the "IV" chord (also major), so keeping with Am as our starting point, the new chord would be D.

Hope this helps get you started.

Peace
