I've been thinking of getting the Alvarez RD8. Is this a pretty good guitar. I'm a beginner, but I'm very determined to learned. I've already memorized the notes on the first two frets so I think I'm ready for a real guitar now.
The Alverez is a real nice guitar, I had a versoin of it with a cutaway and pickups, but returned it because of a headstock flaw(it was dented, but nothing phisically wrong with the guitar; I just figured out that I got ripped off 80 bucks by not buying online; so I came up with a complaint 8) ) It was a great guitar, played really nice, but remember when buying a guitar to buy it at a store so you can try it out, but print out an online price and try to haggle them down to that price or lower. Whats your limit, BTW? There are some very good guitars out there for under 350... Happy buying!

I wanted to spend somewhere in the 100 to 200 dollar range. Its my first guitar so don't want to spend to much. I want a steel string acoustic electric for around that price. I just saw a takamine EG240 at the store for 149 dollars. Is this a good deal?
I think $150 would be a good deal if it is new.
Here is some information on the Takamine EG240.
Yes it is new. Thanks for the link.
I play and Alvarez and love it dearly. You'll be hard pressed to find better for the price (IMHO).

Takamine is known for good quality acoustic electrics at lower $$ range
Yes, Alvarez makes some nice guitars. I've got an Alvarez acoustic myself. And an Alvarez electric as well.
