Hi all,
Got another question,
Beside the wonderful lessons here on Guitar noise I have been looking at several online pay as you go lessons, Specifically truefire, Workshop live and guitar tricks. All seem to have good and bad points and I have tried the free lessons from each which narrows it down to truefire and workshop live. Does anyone have experience withboth of these sites? Any opinions?
Thanks

Kirk Lorange has great lessons and a fantastic book, see my review on this site.
I don't know about those 2 sites but check these 2 out . Both are very good and should have free lessons!
justinguitar.com has free lessons on youtube.

Justin guitar is certainly very good, as is cyberfret (www.cyberfret.com). See how you get on with those two before paying for online lessons.

It's pretty hard to beat Justinguitar. His videos are great and free! Free is good. He does have products, but if you are just starting out, it is a great place to start.
I'm just starting out (after attempting to start out a few years ago) and I saw the link to justinguitar.com 2 days ago in another thread.
I just watched through a bunch of the video lessons last night after the kids were in bed (can't play while kids are sleeping, small house). I really liked them and think that I will learn quite easily from them.
3 or 4 years ago, I got my guitar. Messed around for about 6 months and strings broke and I haven't touched it since. I'm picking it back up again and want to set my mind to learn it. To learn, I have to have some kind of structure, so I think as long as I don't start roaming around with lessons online and stick to one until I get it right, I'll learn.
That 3 or 4 years ago, I had seen the guitar.about.com site and printed a bunch of stuff from it. It looks good as well and I had started with that back then. Problem was, I printed out a lot (was on dialup at the time) and couldn't hold myself to one lesson until I knew it well and randomly roamed around too much.
With the justinguitar.com, I think having an actual video over just printed material will help. It will be good to read the lesson, then see someone actually doing it on the guitar and hearing it.
