Hmm I always wanted to know how to reduce the sound I get when I pick with my electric guitar, it seems to have gone away, but I dunno how I did it, I think I just hit them too hard ?

That's generally what I've noticed after playing for longer periods of time. At first I start picking the strings a little hard and by the time I'm almost ready to put it up for the night, I notice I've got my amp turned up and I'm picking softer which is producing a nicer tone without the initial sharpness of each note. However, between the two amps I have, I've noticed one is a lot more sensitive to dragging my fingers across the coiled wires or picking, it just captures more and it's a little annoying at times.

So from my experiance thus far, it's mostly from the way you play, however it can be intensified by the equipment.
