Just wondered if anyone had any advise on playing Raggae? Do you just use normal chords and make then chuck on the upstrokes? Is the chuck just releasing the strings on the way up? Just wanted to give it a try after seeing a festirval at the weekend..

yes. that is how I play reggae. I like the upstroke with a quick palm mute to keep the 'chucking' tight.
reggae can be played with both up and down strokes. another way of keeping the chord from sustaining too much is to release the fret hand just slightly. you keep the chord shape and the fingers on the strings. but you release ever so lightly. that with a palm mute makes for tightness.
remember, the timing on reggae is emphasis on the two and four beat.

A little Marley ought to do the trick. Straight from the Easy Songs For Beginner's tab on the GN web site: https://www.guitarnoise.com/lesson/i-shot-the-sheriff/

I have not done this one myself.....successfully, but probably could. In fact, maybe I'll do it today. Tried this past winter and never got the vibe going.

I can play a version of No Woman No Cry, though. Mostly C-G-Am-F and a little C-F-C-G. (I do the slowed down version style that you'd find on the Legends CD). Single guitar arrangement. Fun.
