You have an active pickup in your guitar.
Magnetic pickups (single coils / humbuckers) of kind you see on electric guitars tend to be passive - when the signal is made from the string passing the magnetic field of the pickup, a bigger magnet can boost the signal and therefore the signal can be made strong enough.
Pickups on acoustic guitars are often of piezo types (when the pickup is under the bridge) - the pick up picks up the vibration in the string and therefore (may?) need a "pre amp" in the guitar to get enough signal out.
I think this is roughly right - surely someone else can add substantially to this

It may have a pre-amp or active electronic's. What is the brand name and model?

It could also be a mid-range boost, such as that found in Eric Clapton signature guitars.
I started with nothing - and I've still got most of it left.

Looking at the Crafter website, it turns out to be a pre-amp

Gee I thought I'd be the only one who didn't realize it said 'acoustic' right off. :P I figured it was just the result of my insomnia.
The battery is there to power a preamp, you should have an equalizer, if the form of a bunch of sliders on the side of the guitar. This boosts and shapes the signal from the pickups, most likely the pieso, Larsko described. It's really only useful if you want the guitar amplified for stage or through a guitar cable into a recorder.
Warning, the above was written far too early in the morning. But it's something like that. :)

You're welcome :)
if you haven't found it already, the jack for the guitar cable is through the bottom strap button. I know it took me a little while to find it...

*whistle, whistle* :)
I was lucky with that one then...
But since we're at it: Is there a difference between a "pre-amp", "active electronic's" and " active EQ System" ?
