Just got done learning and memorizing the solo to "Wish You Were Here". YAY!!! Its my first full solo and once I put it all together it will be my first "intermediate level song".
What are some other good solos that are about the same difficulty that are also fun to play?
A thought that came to mind was....
Joe Walsh's "Rocky Mtn Way" ??
Research is what I'm doing when I don't know what I'm doing. - Wernher Von Braun (1912-1977)
the solo in Gloria was my first.
The solo in Pink Floyd's "Mother" was my first.
Teamwork- A few harmless flakes working together can unleash an avalanche of destruction.
I can think of so many, I learned by copying favorite solos just like you.
A great guitar solo is Something by the Beatles. George Harrison is one of the most underrated guitarists of all time. It sounds so pure and simple, until you try to play it.
If you can nail this one, you will have some real style.
If you know something better than Rock and Roll, I'd like to hear it - Jerry Lee Lewis
Harrison is fantastic. while recuperating from my wrist injury I have been plunking my ukulele. I worked out the song Something. man, four strings and the melody is right there. the four strings chords and note walks are incredible.
the song is so beautiful and sophisticated when listening. playing on the uke revealed it's beautiful chord structure.
Harrison was amazing.
The first entire solo I learned (besides "Blackbird", which seems to be a favorite for a first guitar song to learn) was Red Hot Chili Pepper's "Californication". Two-thirds through it's got a nice solo that, besides three bends near the end I had trouble with, is not difficult. Also, the entire song is a good one to learn: It's not hard and everyone who's heard the song will immediately know what you're playing.
Another great solo that is about the skill level of Wish You Were Here is the classic American Woman by the Guess Who.
Absolutely one of the best guitar solos ever. A classic.
