Hi,

I just joined recently and this site has already helped so much in improving my guitar skills.

I'm particularly having trouble with the strumming pattern of this video (A tutorial for "Can't Take My Eyes Off of You".) I'm getting a feeling he's thumb slapping or something?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V966RtwJp6w (Just skip to the middle where he begins to play the song)

If someone could tell me how he strums the guitar, I'll greatly appreciate it. THANKS

It looks like he's using his thumb and index finger to strum. He's using the heel of his hand to slap the strings, aka "palm muting". Siggi Mertens uses this often. It takes a lot of practice.

Another guy called Guitar Sage uses it for Werewolves of London.

It is difficult to answer when one does not understand the question.

yes. he is palm muting. an essential technique that really comes naturally.
it is a strum / mute . follow the beat. strum then place the heel of your palm against the strings.
repeat on beat.
sometimes I find I am using the fleshy part of the edge of my hand instead
of the fleshy part on the thumb side.
no hard rule.
soft, hard, slap. touch.
it is natural to do that's why I think each of us has our own manner; style.
