Can anyone tell me how work out the strumming pattern to a song?
Keeping in mind you know the song and the chords.

Thanks in advance
Jon

Do you have the ability to slow the song down to simplify things? Is the guitar acoustic or electric?

Hi Jon

You probably don't need "part 1" of this series, but "part 2" contains all the knowledge you need to figure any strumming pattern out for yourself. Hope it helps.

And a belated welcome to Guitar Noise, by the way.

Peace

Dont be too concerned about matching the strum exactly. The artist that wrote the song more than likely doesnt play it the same way every time so why should you. Be more concerned about capturing the feel. Listen to the song, tap your foot and internalize the rhythm. Get your hand moving with the rhythm and before you know it, you'll be playing along with the song.
