I am looking for a bunch of strumming patterns to practice. I have a few that I regularly try, but was wondering if anyone knew of a list of beginner - to - intermediate - to - advanced patterns. I don't quite have the imagination or skill to make them up on my own and have them sound good... or, when I try, I don't think I am pushing myself hard enough.

Ones that have bass / strum thrown in, hammer ons/pull offs, etc as described in excellent podcasts (thanks David!) would be good too.

I know with time I will be able to play around and improvise them myself, or have an ear for playing ones from real songs, but right now I am kind of stuck playing what is laid out to me...

Any suggestions, links, advice would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Hi

I was just doing a search for something else on the main site a few minutes ago and found this article. Might be useful, but a good read none-the-less. https://www.guitarnoise.com/lesson/strumming-for-beginners/

I came across a great book not long ago - "The Dictionary of Strum & Picking Patterns" by Fred Sokolow. It has strumming and picking patterns across all genres.

The other sources - besides the excellent GN podcasts and Beginner/Intermediate Songs on this site - are other online guitar tutoring videos and sites. If I can be so bold and mention JustinGuitar here, he's got a couple of beginner song videos (Dock of the Bay for instance) with their own strumming patterns. And there is tons more out there.
