Hello gang,

I found "Cecilia" by S&G in the EZ Guitar section of Guitar Word Acoustic (p. 52 Dec 2005 issue with Neil Young on the cover) and saw that G is:

3
X
O
O
O
4

How would one strum such a chord with a string you aren't supposed to touch in the middle? I've seen chords here and there like this but I'd like to tackle this version of this song so decided that this is the place to ask.

Thanks!

Cheers,
Arfinwulf.

Namaste.

I would be far from the right person to answer the question but I would assume the string is to be muted...

That is a very odd chord. I believe it should be:

e---3r----
b---0-----
g---0-----
d---0-----
a---X-----
e---3m----

i= index finger
m= middle finger
r= ring finger
p= pinky finger
t= thumb

To mute the A string, simply let your middle finger fretting the G on the bass E string lightly touch the A string. This will mute it.

If you know something better than Rock and Roll, I'd like to hear it - Jerry Lee Lewis
