Hey all,

I'm looking for a freeware tab editor. I use PowerTab, and love it, but I'd like something I can use to import tab in text format and edit/play it.

I've tried Tabledit and Garmen Tab Editor. Neither allow importing text tab.

Any ideas would be welcome.

I fear your freeware resources are over. PowerTab is the only editor which is all free and has no limitations.

Go for a paid one - GuitarPro 5. I am sure you can spare some bucks for this excellent product.

The only ones that I've seen are not freeware and are extremely picky about import format. The text has to be perfect and contain no additional "information", because the import will conk out at every opportunity.

I started with nothing - and I've still got most of it left.
Did you know that the word "gullible" is not in any dictionary?

Ya,

The Tabledit that i have does technically import text tab, but all the notes always end up on the high E string. Must be a formating issue.

I'd have to agree here...Guitar Pro is a great product....money well spent.

There is a demo verison...download and give it a whirl...

Powertab suits my needs, but by all means, if you will use it pay for the editor that does what you want it to do.
