On a tab i was looking at, it told me to slide to an open string, how is this even possible? the tab was this......

This tab was not the first i have seen that wanted me to slide to an open string. Am i missing something?
Some people don't like to stop and take a look at the big picture, i make them stop, and i make them look.
As you've already surmised, you don't actually slide down to the open string. Start at the seventh fret and slide down and, at the point when the second note should be played, pull your finger off the string (as it's sliding) to sound the open string.
