Hi to all :)

I begun to play guitar for 6-7 years ago, an electric acoustic, but I put it away (I was young and stupid... :(), and didnt start again before recently.

My playing is very, very rusty, and all I can remember is only the simplest basics from my guitarlessons. Well, that's going to change...

But my question was:

Do I need to change the old strings with new ones, and which difference will it do?

Oh, definately change them, the new strings will sound better, hold their tune better (after initial stretching) and there will be less chance of breaking one.

I left a cheap nylon string guitar around for several years, and when I decided to try learning how to play again, I didn't bother changing...

It was fine for a day or two, then while it was standing in the corner, the high e snapped
