I'm working through a song right now that I hope to put together when I get my new laptop, and Mikaashi uses a thumb pick, and gets a nice chunk sound in the bass...I think he's muting as well.

But since I don't use one, I'm trying to mimic the sound he's getting and I think I may have found it, but I'm trying to find a nice balance between muting and not in the bass notes, what do you guys think?

This is the first minute of the song that I recorded:

without a point of reference I cannot compare. regardless of that, I think you sound really good. there is a nice balance between high and low. the bass sits back and the fancy fingering shines. well done.

Thanks alot!

I purposely didn't put the original in there to see if it stood on it's own the way I play it. I was hoping you'd say there was a nice balance, I've been working to try and create a good balance where one doesn't overpower the other in this song. There is alot of bass notes.

But here's the original.
