I'm trying to put my aviater picture on...but it asks for the URL :shock: ...I have reduced the size of the photo...that part I know how to do...but when i click on propertys...its say J Peg...Not URL...Helppppppppp.

An URL is the web address. A web page !
Look at the address bar when you have your picture up on the pc and that is the link or url.
You won't be able to put an avatar up directly from your pc it must come from a website. So if you have a picture in your pc that you want to use, you will have to upload it to a website that you have created or find one on any website.
The picture will have to be a stand alone image (not just apicture in amongst a load of text)

The internets is a series of tubes. A URL directs whomever clicks on it to a particular tube, it can be a smaller tube within the context of a larger tube (like: http://forums.guitarnoise.com/ ) or to a main tube such as https://www.guitarnoise.com .
That's all you really need to know about the internets.

yep, that's about twice as wide as it should be, can you shrink it again?
Here's a much smaller version (80 pixels wide, like it says in the avatar part of the profile editor thingie)
Copy it off my server, and upload it to your image host, 'cause I'll delete it in a few weeks if I need the space for something else.

a lot of us use irfanview http://www.irfanview.com/ to edit/resize photos before posting them.

Lefty: I do have Irfanview...and i thought I knew how to use It...but aparently you cant upload pics from your pc... has to be from a website

right, i know that, i just wondered why you weren't able to upload the smaller resized pic.
sometimes i forget when i'm in a hurry and think i'm uploading the resized pic when i've forgotten to save before uploading to my photobucket account.

Hi Lefty...FRom your post ,I think I know why i couldent upload the pic that Kent eh resized for me. I guess i have to be a member with photobucket and up load the picture to there website...then load it to G.N ???...A,m I on the right track??

Yep. It's free for a basic membership. There are lots of other similar sites. I use PhotoBucket myself.
