This is the video everyone https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=o0kmltq-r-o . Apparently, no matter how hard i try, i still can't sustain the guitar sound by a single strum like what the guitarist did in the video and when he still let go of his fingers to do the solo, the sound of the chord he used still prolongs. You can see from the very beginning of his play. This left me to a conclusion that he is probably using an effect pedal. If you guys figured it out, would you pleasee tell me what pedal effect he's using? Im learning the guitar of this song.

He could easily be using a pedal to record a loop (as Ed Sheeran does live), or the band could be miming to their final mix complete with overdubs

You are right that he's using pedals. He was stomping all the time in between his playing. The sustain could be from technique, natural from a guitar that can sustain or it could be a compressor/sustainer pedal.

Pretty obvious that he is using pedals. as an experienced guitarist he is using overdrive pedal I'm guessing! since the spectrum is pretty huge and a bit like 70s songs
