What are some things that should be committed to memory to improve as a guitarist? I am currently working on memorizing all the notes on the fretboard using Joe Satriani's method.

Chord shapes - all major, minor, dominant, diminished, major 7ths, minor 7ths. Know how to get dominant 9ths, 11ths and 13ths. Know how to get major 9ths, major 11ths and major 13ths.

Know your scale shapes - major, natural, harmonic and melodic minors, major and minor pentatonics in all five shapes.

More importantly - commit songs to memory. Nobody's going to pay for tickets to come and watch you because you know all the notes on the fretboard. Play a good song, and people will listen.
