I've seen a lot of tabs for this song, some good, some bloody awful - a lot of them seem to have quite a few double-stops in the intro/solo, so forgive me, this isn't a note-for-note transcriptio, it's the way I play it....think of it as a pub version, but hey it'll get you in the ball-park - people will recognise it straight away....

This isn't too hard to play.....there aren't that many chords in it, there
are a couple of barre chords but I'll deal with those later.....
So - off we go - play the intro, then straight into a D chord....
(D)You tell me that you've got everything you want,
And your bird can sing,
But you don't get (Em)me,
(G)You don't get......(D)me
(Play fill 1 here)
(D)You say you've seen seven wonders,
And your bird is green,
But you don't see (Em)me,
(G) You don't see.....(D)me......
(Play fill 1 again)
(F#m)When your prized po(F#maj7)sessions,
(F#m7)Start to let you (B7)down,
(D)You may be a(Em)woken, I'll be (G)round,
I'll be (A7)round,
(Repeat Intro/Solo here.....)
(F#m)When your bird is (F#maj7)broken,
(F#m7)Will it bring you (B7)down,
(D)You may be a(Em)woken, I'll be (G)round,
I'll be (A7)round,
(D)You tell me that you've heard every sound there is,
And your bird can sing,
But you won't hear (Em)me,
(G)You won't hear (D)me........
Outro......

The only tricky bit is the bridge....the last chord in the verse is
D, so If you play it like this.....
E A D G B E
2 0 0 2 3 2
with a mini-barre across the top 3 strings....
It's easy enough to change to F#m...then F#m7 and F#m7 like this,
as long as you extend the mini barre to the D string during the
F#m chord.......
E A D G B E
F#m 2 4 4 2 2 2
F#maj7 2 4 3 2 2 2
F#m7 2 4 2 2 2 2
This song was, for me anyway, the absolute stand-out track on the
Revolver album - the first time I heard it, it was like "wow, is that
actually a guitar?" - it opened my ears to all the possibilities...
I still love it to this day, and it's still probably my absolute
all-time favourite Beatles track - if I've got the blues, I'll play it
to cheer myself up....if I'm feeling good, I'll play it to feel even
better....ah hell, I don't need an excuse to play it, I'll just play
it anyway......
Enjoy!
:D :D :D

Wow Vic,
You've done it again mate! and, again I'm reading this in my lunch break at work. My vertual air guitar is out and I'm having a bit of a hum. Great song, another to work on tonight.
Strangely Rodders and I were jamming at the weekend and he was taking me through changing from Bm to B#m7 and F#m to F#m7 barre chords on some 12 barre blues chord progressions. Could be useful here.
That bionic hand of yours is obviously improving greatly.
Yeah, great song from Revolver. I still rank "I'm Only Sleeping" as my favourite from the album but this is a close second
Chris
The guitar is all right John but you'll never make a living out of it! (John Lennon's Aunt Mimi)
Vic
I think this is a great song (despite Mr. Lennon's alleged feelings to the contrary ;-) )and always wanted to learn it. I will print this out and give it a try.
Many thanks! :D
Cheers,

"The details of my life are quite inconsequential." - Dr. Evil
Excellent work Vic,
I have just read up on this song and have this to forward for those interested
Written by Lennon, he described this song as fancy paper around an empty box - but even so, it was so good a song it seemed that no one noticed. He further describes it as "another horror. " He felt it was "full of fake wisdom, of those philosophically lightweight days when it seemed as if the world could be turned on its axis by a tab of acid and a few seconds thought."Still, it is one of the best musically on the album. It features a great guitar riff, and a great Lennon vocals.
Be excellent to each other & party on dudes!
