Here's an oldie by the Stones, also performed by Marianne Faithful.
For you fingerpickers out there, here's a pattern that works very nicely:Basic Picking Pattern (fingerings, in italics, are for picking
hand):
G A C D(or D/A)
i m i m i m i m i m i m i m i m
e|-------3-------3-|-------0-------0-|-------0-------0-|-------2-------2-|
B|-0---------0-----|-2---------2-----|-1---------1-----|-3---------3-----|
G|-----0-------0---|-----2-------2---|-----0-------0---|-----2-------2---|
D|---------0-------|---------2-------|---------2-------|-0-------0-------|
A|-----------------|-0---------------|-3---------------|(0)--------------|
E|-3---------------|-----------------|-----------------|-----------------|
T T T T T T T T T T T T T T T T
Alt. Pattern for D* in 2nd line of verses:
D* (or D/A)
i i m r m m
e|---------2---3---2--|
B|-3-----3------------|
G|-----2--------------|
D|-0------------------|
A|(0)-----------------|
E|--------------------|
T
On the 4th line of each verse, on the G and D chords, pick 1/2 of each chord; or, simply pluck the two appropriate strings on the 1st beat followed by a quick down/up strum for each chord.
On the last line of each verse ("I sit and watch . . . ") hammer-on the index finger of the 2nd C Chord and the 2nd D7 chord.
Here's the song with a little instrumental thrown in. (Not intended to match the recording, but you will recognize the melody.) Doesn't call for a capo, but I usually place one on the 3rd fret due to my vocal range, and I like the "brighter" sound.

Thanks Dan. Fingerpicking is a lot like a golf swing: figure out the pattern and then repetition creates "muscle memory". Unfortunately, I'm not very good at either one, but I'm seeing a little improvement on the fingerpicking. (Golf is hopeless!) BTW, this isn't a bad song to learn on as the chords are simple and the pattern isn't that bad once you find the rhythm. Just form the chord, pluck the two strings on the 1st beat, and think 3-1-4-2-3-1 (for each string being picked.) It's a beautiful little song.
Good luck with it . . .

Awwww! Golf is easy!!! :D So is fingerpicking! They both require the same thing.... perseverance and patience! And, yes, I am a golfer/fingerpicker!!! :D
I ran through your tab and it sounds really good! Thanks!

I'm also a Golfer/Fingerpicker but I think my Golf is better.......probably because I can pull the odd good shot off
