B = Bass
So pick the relevant bass string of whatever chord you're on - for instance for G pick the 3rd fret low E string, then strum D dudu etc.
all the best
Matt
Ok..
Am I correct in saying that to fret the D chord it is ( xx0323 )?? That is how I have been playing it anyways. So how do you know that you have to fret it on the 3rd fret for a bass note?
I guess after what I've read that most strumming patterns don't mean life or death anyways, but I'd rather know as much as possible :P
Brucie
I think you mean xx0232 for the D - hope so anyway!
For the D chord - you use the open D string for your bass, not one of the fretted strings.
In general, the bass notes for the "common" chords are as follows -
A - pick the open A string
C - pick the fretted A string, 3rd fret
D - pick the open D string
E - pick the open E string
F pick the low E string fretted at 1st fret
G - pick the low E string fretted at the 3rd fret.
I hope this clears it up a bit!

Hey Matt,
Good to see you're back on the boards. I was playing this song last night. Had great fun trying to sing it like Dylan. Good job I was up the end of garden in the summerhouse (Huh! Summerhouse thats a laugh! galeforce winds and rain and black as your father's hat) but its cosy up there now that it stands in as my music room and Trish's sewing workshop.

The guitar is all right John but you'll never make a living out of it! (John Lennon's Aunt Mimi)
hiya Chris
I wondered if anyone would remember me to be honest!!!
Boy this site's come on leaps and bounds since i last visited, I like the index on the ESD.
Might even put a song up soon, but don't play as often as i used to mate.
Nice to hear from you, all the best
Matt
Ah yeah, you caught my mistake  .. thanks for all the help, I understand it now :D
