Ok, as I've almost made it to play all CCR “Cronichle†greatest hits cd, I'll post the classic “Green Riverâ€.
Having said that I took the basic chords from the main reference CCR site at http://www.creedence-online.net/all_in_one.php , here we go with the song.
Chords: the song is made of just three chords, probably the first three everyone learn, since they are E, C, A: I think that's the best proof that you can write great music even with very simple open chords.
Time signature and Chord changes: 4/4. Chord changes follow this pattern:
Verse 1: 10 measures of E, 2 mesures of C, 2 measures of A, 2 measures of E (16 measures to complete the verse)
Verse 2 and 3: 8 measures of E, 2 mesures of C, 2 measures of A, 2 measures of E (14 measures to complete the verse)
Strumming pattern: strum happily with the classic D/du/u/du. If you want something a bit more “refined†use a two-measures pattern like
D/d/du/du/D/du/u/du
Bpm: at least 120-130 bpm
Ok, I'm not sure of all the song, so I'll be glad if you let me know any mistakes

E
Well, take me back down where cool water flows, yeah.
Let me remenber the things I don't know,
Stopping at the log where catfish bite,
C
Walking along the river road at night,
A E
Barefoot girls dancing in the moonlight.
E
I can hear the bullfrog calling me.
Wonder if my rope's still hanging to the tree.
Love to kick my feet 'way down the shallow water.
C
Shoefly, dragonfly, get back t'your mother.
A E
Pick up a flat rock, skip it across Green River.
Welllllll!
E
Up at Cody's camp I spent my days, oh,
With flat car riders and cross-tie walkers
Old Cody, Junior took me over,
C
Said, "You're gonna find the world is smould'ring.
A E
And if you get lost come on home to Green River."
E
Welllllll!
Come on home.
sorry I saw the some of the chord changes are not lined up correctly, so please take notice that you arrive on E chord when John sings "Green River" (after playing two measures of C and two measures of A)
